I'm getting my feet wet making games in Unity and I wrote a pretty close looking clone of Space Invaders. I included both a PC version and a Android version in the zip file. The on screen controls for the Android version are my first attempt, just to get them working. I'll probably clean them up a bit and use better images then the stock ones I have there now. The only bluetooth controller I had to test the Android version with is my PS4 controller and it doesn't seem to work right on Android, so I'll get a gamepad and try again. So if anyone uses a gamepad with android and it works fine, let me know.
I basically made the game for me so I have no intentions of hosting it anywhere...especially after the Super Mario Bros C64 / Nintendo take down. I may drop it in a few other places later to see how it goes however, but just here for now.
I'm mostly interested in comments, especially from other programmers.
It's Space Invaders so there are not that many controls. Left, Right(arrows), Fire(Space Bar), Pause(P), Backdrops (Tab), 1 Player, 2 Players, Credits.(1,2,3).
On a gamePad: Pause (start), Credit (select), 1Player (Left Trigger), 2 Players (Right Trigger). Fire, Backdrop (buttons). Assuming your gamepad maps them out the same of course.
So let me know what you all think....thanks and enjoy!
SAY! That's pretty damn good! The invaders move .. a little funny. Can't put my finger on it, but otherwise - GREAT recreation!
Yeah the animation is a little off. In the original it looks like they move only when the animation changes. In mine they are kinda moving steady. So I didn't duplicate the jerky movements of the original. Only us purists will notice.
I try not to let my OCD tell me that I need to fix that. I keep telling myself it looks pretty good otherwise. The way it's set up in Unity is that the movement and animation are two separate things. I would just need to take a little more control over them both to get it right. But I'm MOSTLY happy with it so I haven't.
Maybe I'll fiddle with the animation frames on the invaders...stretch them out a little as the speed they move is about right...so they won't look like they are moonwalking. Or just loop "Thriller" in the background.

New version is up! Should move more like the original. Let me know if there are any issues. Especially with the Thump sound on the last 2 invaders. I have a potential fix or 2 to try if there are issues. Especially on my older devices like my NVidia Shield.
The link at the top of the page should still be valid.
