If you are still rocking an X-Arcade controller like the Tankstick, and have thought about replacing the controller board with something that gives you XInput and Direct Input controller options, X-Arcade just announced a new controller board that works with all their existing and older controllers. The initial cost is around $32 US if you buy now. The price goes up next year. After looking at the upgrade video, it looks dead simple to upgrade.
I have thought long and hard about modding my Tankstick in the past. This might push me over the edge to finally do it.
I just pulled the trigger on the board upgrade. The link to the owner's manual wasn't working, but support pointed me to it on their knowledge base. It really looks like it will give my Tankstick some great future proofing.
Yes. The trackball USB connection from the Tankstick isn't changed as it is seen as a USB mouse when you connect it. The new board just supports upgrading the buttons and joysticks (the joysticks can be reprogrammed as full, or half speed analog sticks). There is also a new mode to allow a single player to use both joysticks for games like Robotron.
They only had a limited number to start with. If you didn't jump on the offer immediately, you will have to wait on the 2nd production run. I plan to install mine in the next couple of days. I sure hope it works out as intended.
So I got mine in the mail. Board only no paperwork no instructions Really! Guess I go to their web site for the instructions. Will post results.
Yeah. Same here. They do have a pretty good installation video on their support page along with a nice pdf that covers everything. Having said that, it would have been nice to at least point you to the correct page on their site.
My install went easy. Don't really know what it did st this point. My picade doesn't see a difference but I haven't had much time to muck with it. What I did see in the video was that this board can be put into a hotrod. That interests me as I have 2 of them Honestly the hotrod was a better made unit. The reason I went and got x-arcade was a super price 150 and it had the track ball built in, seriously you cant make one yourself for that price. I do like the x-arcade all in all Will get back to the upgrade when I have time. The picade is well a bit of a pain getting all the correct files etc. Wish I could figure out how to put the gui on mine I am getting old and impatient with things sadly
